Oblique
photography is what most people think of when they think of aerial photography.
The
photos are usually shot out of the side of the aircraft and show the subject
at an angle, usually between 30 and 60 degrees. This type of photo is flattering
to the subject and can be framed and hung on the proud owner's wall.
Oblique
photos have many uses, some of which include: Business cards, Christmas
cards, Real-
estate
advertisements, Real-estate development, Business reports, and special
events, such as rodeos, farm auctions, sporting events, and even outside
weddings.
Vertical Photography is usually shot through a camera hole in the floor of an aircraft The camera has to be centered over the subject and leveled with the ground using spirit levels. This type of photography is used for mapping and design purposes. It is also much harder to get as 99.9 percent of aircraft do not have a camera hole.
Vertical
photos are very useful. They are used for planning and designing purposes,
and have
thousands
of possibilities. They can be used by landowners to put in driveways, landscaping
fences,
corrals, water lines, electric lines, buildings, or any number of other
possibilities. Vertical photographs are scalable so measurements can be
taken off of them very easily.
For
planning purposes photographs can be drawn on with a "Sharpie" pen, and
then wiped clean
with
most solvents. I personally use my wife's fingernail polish remover, and
a cotton ball,
because
they are handy.
Aerial
photographs are timeless; they become a living history of your property.
Many
landowners
have aerial photos taken when they buy their property, so that five years
later they can show family and friends the numerous improvements that they
have made. Most become
prized
family possessions.
Other
clients have expressed regret over not having aerial photos taken when
they bought their property. Many would like to have "before" and "after"
photographs of their completed
improvements,
which include many thousands of dollars, and hundreds of man hours; but
time is a hard thing to back up and so the "before" photo will never exist.
We
use medium format cameras that produce a negative four times the size of
a 35 mm camera.
This
2 1/4 by 2 3/4 inch negative can produce photographs up to 48 by 60 inches
with excellent results.
Aerial photographs are not as expensive as you might think.
Give us an opportunity to give you that once in a lifetime memory.
Sincerely,
Ray
Reichley
